Who Cares for the Carers?!

With the project ‘Who Cares for the Carers!?’ we aimed to initiate a dialogue about caregivers, whom everyone was collectively proud of at the start of the Corona pandemic. However, Corona did not cause the problems in healthcare but revealed many structural issues within the sector. Healthcare workers have been significantly impacted by these issues. There is a shortage of staff, no time for heartfelt care, and employees often find themselves neglecting their own well-being while caring for others.

In an open-sourced, co-creative design sprint with two teams, we showed (and I learned) how to design real, effective solutions for these problems within 6 days (D&RP). In this week we interviewed health carers to identify key problems, brainstormed about design ideas, build prototypes and tested them with health carers, concluding with presenting final concepts and findings to important stakeholders. While participating as ‘Design Sprinter’ I also applied as, and got assigned the role of storyteller, communicating the project to visitors outside the glass house.
